As leaders in healthcare we must help our employees turn the gray areas of job related behavior into logical, process oriented decision-making. This is accomplished by providing increased ethics training to our leaders and measuring the ethical climate of the organization. According to a survey by Walker Information, the Indianapolis-based research firm, only 48% of employees say they are comfortable reporting ethical violations, while 65% choose to overlook uncertain behavior. In the end this costs organizations millions in turnover, retraining, decrease in customer loyalty, poor press, etc.
