Session #: 81613-xh
Presenter(s): Craig Pederson, John Mitchell
Session Length: 1hr. 40 min.
Event: 2006 HFMA Audio Webcast Date: 3-7-06
This audio webcast will focus on improving the performance of hospital-employed physician groups through the implementation of cost-based pricing strategies. While the topic of performance improvement in hospital owned groups is not new, too often turnaround strategies focus on the bottom half of the practice profit and loss (P&L) statement, i.e., overhead levels relative to provider productivity. This audio webcast will focus on the top line of the P&L and a recommended approach that hospitals/health systems can utilize in the pricing/positioning of their physician organizations within the market place.
Case studies/examples of hospital-employed groups and their experiences related to pricing physician services will be utilized to demonstrate the "real-life" application of the strategies discussed during the web cast. A primer on relative value units (RVUs), the basic building block for pricing physician services, will also be included.
