Session #: 81651-xh
Presenter(s): Carl Bowman; Wayne Henry
Session Length: 1hr. 40 min.
Event: 2006 HFMA Audio Webcast Date: 6-27-06
If your hospital is one of the approximately 600 that has, or will, experience first-hand part of the IRS tax-exempt organization work plan that seeks information about your hospital's community benefit program or its compensation policies and procedures, you will have a better understanding of the IRS plan and how to respond by attending this audio web cast. Due to the interrelationship of the work plan and the compliance questionnaire with Form 990, the material covered in this session will also help with the Form 990 preparation. The IRS began its nationwide mailing of a letter and Form 13790, Compliance Check Questionnaire, in May. The questionnaire includes a compensation and community benefit review together with a billing and collection issues section. The presenters, which may include a representative of the IRS, will discuss what the IRS seeks to accomplish with the questionnaire, as well as the ramifications of responses to their questions. Like compensation letters sent out over the past couple of years, it should be expected that some of the responses to the questionnaire will result in an examination. Therefore, it is very important that responses be accurate and supported by backup information.
Whether you're still preparing your responses, have requested an extension, want to know whether you should supplement your earlier response, or want to be better prepared if the IRS letter hasn't hit your desk yet, you'll not want to miss this conference.
