CMS hopes (in the words of Herb Kuhn of CMS, March 21, 2007) to release by early April its FY2008 proposed Medicare inpatient prospective payment system (IPPS) rule on revision of the policies that govern payments to hospitals for services to inpatients. Based on where the final FY07 rule left off, very significant and dramatic changes to the DRG system are anticipated, particularly with regard to determination of DRG weights and changes to make DRGs more reflective of the severity of a patient's illness. The proposed rule will also include updates to the capital payments, revision to the outlier threshold and changes to long-term care DRGs and their relative weights. This Audio Webcast will provide you with in-depth information on the proposed rule and help you to prepare your organization for its changes.
