The Present on Admission (POA) indicator is a new data reporting requirement that was implemented with the UB04, and mandated for hospital compliance in 2007 by the Deficit Reduction Act of 2006 (DRA). The DRA requires hospitals to report complications and comorbidities that exist upon admission, and implements a payment offset for certain hospital-acquired infections in 2008.. It WILL impact hospitals' reimbursement.
