Labor is the costliest expense for any hospital. According to national benchmarking statistics, a leading metric indicates that more than 50 percent of not-for-profit hospitals spend more than 50 percent of their total revenues on labor. By itself, this means nothing, but compared to some investor-owned systems, the not-for-profits are spending 20 percent more on labor. That is an astounding difference and represents a significant competitive disadvantage. How is it possible that some hospitals can spend significantly less than other hospitals when they are doing essentially the same jobs and they have essentially the clinical outcomes?

This Audio Webcast will present ways in which every hospital can design labor processes to improve their labor costs without sacrificing quality. Case studies will enhance the practical ideas presented. You'll walk away with best practice labor reporting and monitoring tools and techniques, tips on how to determine the appropriate labor standards through benchmarking and a tip sheet on how to dispel the resistance to labor productivity and its standards.
